Wild Geese

You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your kneesfor a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your bodylove what it loves.Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on.Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rainare moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers.Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again.Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -over and over announcing your placein the family of things."Wild Geese" by Mary Oliver

Long Lake, Quincy CA

A summertime must

Long Lake Recreation is in between Quincy & Truckee CA. It is nestled in a quaint area of the mountains & took a mile to hike in, plus a boat ride across Long Lake to get to the cabin. The family owned cabin, once built by a civil war miner, is still standing strong & has become a historical landmark. Long Lake sits in front of the deck while Mirror Lake awaits us from behind the small cabin. Horse flys & mosquito's were in full force that weekend but did not take away from the beauty that surrounded us.

Instead of paint balling this year for Russ' 29th we took a trip to Anaheim for a flight simulator class. For all you gamers out there this was YOUR playground. Myself on the other hand, well...lets just say I crashed, burned, & couldn't shoot a bush let alone my "enemies" at any time during my flight. It's ok, I'm a good trash talker so I know I got in their heads! Rawrrrrr!

Old Faithful Geyser- Calistoga, CA

Napa Valley, CA

Congratulations Man Ho for graduating from Justin Siena High!

We enjoyed celebrating Father's day & Sue's birthday in Napa Valley this year. We visited Greystone the CIA of California. It's beautiful stone architect left us wanting more history & more amazing food!
Old Faithful Geyser of California grounds had Tennessee fainting goats. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fainting_goat) Which I have to say I really tried hard to make them faint. I even had Sue hold my purse while I crawled over the fence and chased after them to see their muscles freeze. The baby goat froze while running but to my dissapointment did not fall to the ground.
Jacob's Four-Horn Sheep were not as exciting but interesting to see. Needless to say the petting zoo was entertaining along with the wimpy geyser.

Sailing in San Pedro, CA

The thrilling sea sick feeling of floating in the wind is unreal. Mike is an amazing captain, and let's us enjoy the the salt air along with many cocktails. Joy's menu included homemade tortilla chips, with guac, veggies & spinach dip, & incredible soft bun subs.
Russ & Harry share the same walk together.
